Associates with a wide variety of tree species. In california these include coast live oak, tan oak, Douglas fir and redwood.
Comments
These are small examples of the ledgendary giant California Chanterelle. Those unfamiliar with this species should be careful to note the fold-like spore bearing surface (as opposed to the gills found most Agarics).
Processing
Original image was taken on 35mm Fuji Velvia using a Nikon 55mm macro lens. The slide was then digitized with a Nikon Coolscan with 24bit color depth. The color depth was reduced to 8bits using Debabelizer.
