Sources of Inspiration

Acknowledging the sources of ideas is a way we remain connected. This site is dedicated to all the people who have inspired me to follow the path I have taken.  People of particular significance and relevance to this website are:

My parents, Nancy and Jerry Wilson, who encouraged my love of nature and gave me a passion for technology.

Bart Massey, a friend at Reed College who first introduced me to the concepts, philosophies and practice that would many years later get called Open Source.

Richard Stallman, the founder of the GNU project which created the open source tools that I have used most heavily.

David Arora, author of Mushrooms Demystified, which taught me much of what I know about fungi and Gregg Ferguson who made that knowledge useful.

Breck Costin, who showed me the meaning of fear, the value of emotion and how to use them to find freedom and clarity.

Andrea Wilson, my wife, whose emotional wisdom fills our family with love.

Sharon Kagan, whose commitment to creativity and teaching has brought out the artist within me.

Katrina & Ellery Wilson, my daughters, who teach me there is always more love.
